Bono is Real Madrid’s top candidate to replace the injured Thibaut Courtois. The Spanish branch knows this GOAL report on Thursday. The 32-year-old goalkeeper of Seville and Morocco looks good in the leadership of the Madrid superpower and trainer Carlo Ancelotti. We are now waiting for a first bid from the Spanish capital for Bono, who has been fixed in Seville for another two seasons.

Under Sevilla coach José Luis Mendilibar, Bono, whose full name is Yassine Bounou, no longer seems to be undisputed under the crossbar. Competitor Marko Dmitrovic got plenty of playing time in preparation for the new season and there is a good chance that the latter will have a basic place on Friday evening when Sevilla opens the new year in LaLiga against Valencia. Bono is popular, because the experienced keeper has also been mentioned in recent weeks as a possible addition to Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur.

Bono, who is friends with Courtois, has proved to be a reliable goalkeeper for Sevilla since his arrival in 2020. He also played a heroic role for Morocco at last year’s World Cup in Qatar. Partly thanks to his good performances, the semi-finals were reached. Real Madrid therefore considers him a more than suitable candidate to replace Courtois in the coming months. The Belgian goalie will soon undergo surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and is expected to be out for nine to twelve months.

According to GOAL Seville has so far asked for between 20 and 25 million euros for Bono. However, there is a good chance that Real Madrid will have to come up with a higher amount to loosen the goalkeeper. Bono’s ongoing contract includes an escape clause of 50 million euros, although it is questionable whether The Royal wish to deposit that amount. A much cheaper alternative is old acquaintance David de Gea, who is transfer-free after his recent departure from Manchester United.
