Edward Sturing seems to have thrown in the towel. After the lost Eredivisie match with PSV (6-0), the Vitesse coach appears defeated in front of the camera of ESPN. “We are not going to make up for seven points in four games,” said Sturing.

Vitesse suffered a hard defeat on Saturday when they visited PSV. In the Philips Stadium, coach Peter Bosz's team was far too strong for last-place Vitesse: 6-0. Luuk de Jong scored twice and is the new top scorer in the Eredivisie with 26 goals. Johan Bakayoko, Malik Tillman, André Ramalho and Hirving Lozano also scored.

Before the match, Sturing already made it clear that Vitesse's financial problems are so great that the club may not even be able to complete the season in the Eredivisie.

“There is also a problem, a liquidity problem, also for this season. We are still busy with that. We do have a major problem, the management also said that,” Sturing said before the defeat.

After the match against PSV, Sturing repeats his statements and makes it clear that he fears bankruptcy. “What I understand is that we still need money to be able to complete the season.” Not only in the financial field, but also in the sporting field, the curtain will almost certainly fall.

“Is it ready now? Yes, it's getting difficult now. With four games to go we are seven points behind. We're not going to make it. If you look at how we are playing and the points we have dropped in recent weeks, it will be difficult.”

“It is very difficult for us to score. We have only won four games this season. I am always very positive, but also realistic,” says Sturing.
