Luis Suárez passed the language test he took in Italy on Thursday. The attacker from Barcelona had to prove that he had a sufficient command of the language to obtain an Italian passport. In a photo circulating on social media, Suárez poses with his obtained certificate. Yet the future of Suárez does not seem to lie with Juventus: according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, there are no more conversations between the two parties.

Earlier this Thursday, the Uruguayan travelled by private jet from El Prat airport to Perugia, where he was met by photographers and fans. He was supposed to take the language test in order to make a transfer to Juventus. Italian clubs are only allowed to attract two players from outside the European Union per transfer period, and la Vecchia Signora by the arrival of Arthur and Weston McKennie is already at this limit. Suárez is eligible for Italian citizenship because of his wife’s descent and could become a player of the Turin superpower with an Italian passport.

Earlier this week RAC1 but that Suárez is likely to have to wait some time for a passport. The process is unlikely to be completed before the end of the transfer period, and the deadline for the registration of players for the group stage of the Champions League, on 5 October. On Thursday afternoon, the Italian press is again assuring Edin Dzeko is the first choice of Juventus, making it unlikely that Suárez will be able to enter Allianz Stadium. La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Dzeko is almost certainly coming over from AS Roma and Arek Milik from Napoli will be his replacement. . .
However, obtaining an Italian passport could also be seen by Suárez as an investment for the future, since a passport from an EU country would make it easier for him to make a transfer to another top European competition. Suárez reportedly currently has a number of options, including Atlético Madrid. According to transfer market expert Romano, Barcelona will continue to listen to offers in the coming weeks because the ex-player of Ajax does not appear in the plans of Ronald Koeman.
