Deroy Duarte has to pass the away game of Sparta Rotterdam against Vitesse. The midfielder tested positive for the coronavirus, Sparta reported through official channels Friday morning. On the Arnhemmers’ side, eight members of the technical staff are missing on Saturday evening because they are also infected with the coronavirus.

“Duarte shows no symptoms of the virus, but from the weekly tests for players and staff members, he got a positive result,” Sparta reports on the club website. “Duarte immediately went into home quarantine. Sparta Rotterdam follows the existing protocols, the situation of Duarte and the other players and staff members is constantly monitored”.

Vitesse lacks head coach Thomas Letsch, assistant trainers Joseph Oosting, Jan Fiesser and the other staff members Rein Baart, Jan van Norel, Tim Arends and Dennis van der Meulen and coordinator medical affairs and physiotherapist Jos Kortekaas because of corona. The KNVB has granted dispensation, allowing technical director Johannes Spors together with Edward Sturing and Nicky Hofs to be in front of the group on Saturday for the game mte Sparta.

The home team will also have to do without Sondre Tronstad on Saturday. According to the Gelderlander the Norwegian midfielder has not yet recovered from his ankle injury. Vitesse hopes to prepare him for next Saturday’s match against Ajax. He is expected to be replaced by Thomas Bruns. Max Clark (ankle injury) and Filip Delaveris (foot) are also out of the game against Sparta.
