Patrice Evra has his own employer Sky Sports saturday night in an awkward position. The former left back analyzed the match between Manchester United and Crystal Palace (1-3) on behalf of the English TV channel and picked up an old story about Wilfried Zaha. However, Evra’s claim about the striker of the Palace is incorrect, which made presenter Kelly Cates feel compelled to apologise for his remarks.

Evra stated live on English television on Saturday night that the period of Zaha at Manchester United ended in failure because of an affair that would have been rushed in 2015 with the daughter of David Moyes, then the manager of United. “In the preparation for the season he played everything, but when this rumor came out he disappeared”, Evra picks up the story. Zaha was rented by United to Crystal Palace and later sold to that club. However, Zaha’s alleged affair with Moyes’ daughter was never proven.

Sky Sports clearly felt embarrassed by Evra and decided to proceed immediately to a rectification. “We need to clarify a comment made earlier in the program, which suggests that there may have been a relationship between Wilfried Zaha and the daughter of David Moyes,” said presenter Kelly Cates. “We understand that Wilfried Zaha has never met the daughter of David Moyes and that Patrice’s allegation was false and we apologize for any offense”.

Zaha has always denied the rumors surrounding his alleged affair with Moyes’ daughter. The Anglo-Ivorian attacker previously expressed his disappointment at the way United dealt with him. “No one from United has done his best to put an end to this,” Zaha said in 2018. “I fought the demons on my own. Against rumors that I knew weren’t true. I was nineteen years old, living alone in Manchester, far away from others. They (United, ed.) gave me no car, nothing, while all the other players got it. I experienced this hell on my own.”

On Saturday, 27-year-old Zaha was of great value on behalf of Crystal Palace at the victory visiting his old club Manchester United. The striker made the 0-2 from the penalty spot in the final stages, then saw Donny van de Beek on the other side make the connecting goal, and a few minutes later produced the decisive 1-3 himself.
