Monza is making a serious effort to bring Mauro Icardi and Paulo Dybala to the club, Gianluca Di Marzio reported strikingly enough. Silvio Berlusconi’s newly promoted club wants to storm Serie A with the Argentine star duo. Monza has already spoken to the players’ agents and hopes to hire Icardi from Paris Saint-Germain. Dybala left Juventus on a free transfer and did not accept a serious offer from Internazionale for the time being.

According to Di Marzio, director Adriano Galliani has already spoken with Wanda Icardi, the wife and agent of the PSG striker. Galliani and Berlusconi know that the arrival of Icardi is still a long way off at the moment. Monza’s policymakers are hopeful to strike in the closing days of the transfer window, in case the former Inter striker has not found a new club by then. Galliani also spoke with Dybala’s agent Jorge Antun on Friday. “A complex double affair, but one that Monza is trying to build,” said Di Marzio.

After the surprising promotion, Monza is working on a busy transfer period, which should provide the club with a Serie A-worthy team. The former club of Clarence Seedorf, which became the owner in 2009, is already sure of the services of Andrea Ranocchia (Inter Milan), Alessio Cragno and Andrea Carboni (both Cagliari). According to Di Marzio, the fourth addition will also be Stefano Sensi. The last folds in the lease with Inter will be ironed out in the coming days.

Monza managed to grab a ticket to Serie A in last season’s play-offs. Berlusconi saw his club settle with Pisa in a blood-curdling diptych, which means that Monza will play at the highest level next season for the first time in club history. Berlusconi, former president of Italy and AC Milan, became owner of the club five years ago. After the promotion, the 85-year-old director spoke very ambitiously about the future of Monza. “Now we’re going for the championship and Champions League football,” Berlusconi told DAZN
