Shane Kluivert has signed his first professional contract with FC Barcelona. Patrick Kluivert’s sixteen-year-old son announced this himself via Instagram. Shane is following in his father’s footsteps. Kluivert senior played 257 times in his active career between 1998 and 2004. los Azulgrana and scored 122 goals.

“I am very proud and honored to have signed my first professional contract with FC Barcelona. Thank you for your trust,” Shane wrote. Kluivert signs a three-season contract, as is usual with youth players. That is the maximum contract duration when signing a first professional contract. This means that the Dutchman will be stuck in Catalonia until mid-2026.

In 2016, Kluivert junior made the step from amateur football to professional football. At the time, he exchanged amateur team Buitenveldert for Paris Saint-German, where Patrick started working as technical director. A year later, the sixteen-year-old attacker left the French team for FC Barcelona. The left winger has already signed a sponsorship contract with Nike and is known as a great talent.

The Kluivert family is full of football talent. Father Patrick, who is at the helm of Adana Demirspor as a coach, has two sons in addition to Shane who are active in professional football.
