Supporters of Feyenoord have responded to an atmospheric campaign by Ajax prior to De Klassieker. In the Johan Cruijff ArenA, banners could be seen with the text ‘Blood, Sweat and Tears’. The Eredivisie match between Ajax and Feyenoord was stopped in the 55th minute due to fireworks on the field with a 0-3 score in Feyenoord’s favor.

Feyenoord fans decided a day later to respond to the atmospheric action of the Ajax fans. “No Blood, No Sweat, Only Tears,” the banners read. Clarity about the remainder of De Klassieker is expected on Monday. According to it Algemeen Dagblad Feyenoord demands that 0-3 be the final score. Het Parool writes that Ajax actually expects the abandoned match to be played at a later date.

The match between Ajax and Feyenoord was stopped a total of three times. First there was a delay of several minutes due to a cup on the field, after which fireworks were thrown twice. Referee Serdar Gözübüyük then had no choice but to stop the match permanently. Afterwards, Ajax’s fanatical supporters once again showed their worst side by storming and demolishing the main entrance to the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Later that evening, Sven Mislintat was fired immediately.

Ajax is experiencing a dramatic start to the season. With only five points from the first four matches, the Amsterdam team is in a disappointing fourteenth place in the Eredivisie. The gap to PSV and AZ, who have not lost a point in competitions, is now already ten points.
