Alfred Schreuder has transferred two players from the U21 team to the A-selection. Kian Fitz-Jim and Youri Baas are now part of the first team of the team from Amsterdam, the club announced through the official channels. Baas was already allowed to smell the big work and was already deployed by Schreuder in the main force this season. For Fitz-Jim, a debut in an official competition was not yet possible.

Baas entered Ajax’s youth academy in 2018, after coming over from Excelsior. He made his debut in professional football in 2020 in the competition match of Jong Ajax against De Graafschap. Schreuder first called on him in the Eredivisie in August last year, after which he also made his Champions League debut not much later. The defender, who still has a contract with Ajax until mid-2026, has so far played in six official matches.

Due to Fitz-Jim, a debut in the first team has not yet been made. The midfielder played in the youth of AFC and AZ, before making the switch to Ajax in 2019. He is one of the driving forces in midfield this season in the U21 team. In 74 official matches in the U23 team, Fitz-Jim has scored twice so far. He delivered nine assists. His contract was broken up in the summer of 2021 until mid-2024.

In conversation with Football zone Fitz-Jim indicated earlier this week that he had counted on a spot in the A-selection. To his disappointment, however, it took a little longer than hoped. “I had a hard time with that in the beginning,” said the midfielder. “But I have talked about it a lot with the trainer (John Heitinga, ed.). In the end I have to do it myself. I can throw the cap at it, but then I won’t get there. I don’t feel like it busy, I try to develop as best as possible.”
