Royston Drenthe thinks that Javairô Dilrosun should be more outspoken about his favorite position. In the program Kick it with by Ziggo Sports the former professional emphasizes to the Feyenoord player that he is probably experiencing a nuisance from his status as all rounder. Dilrosun was used this season as both left winger, right winger and ’10’ by Arne Slot. However, things went wrong when occupying the latter position, according to Dilrosun himself.

Dilrosun almost always kicked off at Feyenoord until March 19. When Sebastian Szymansk ended up in the rag basket, however, he gradually faded into the background. “I played everything at the beginning of the season. Then Szymanski got injured and I had to leave donnie (slang for ’10’, ed.) play. That’s where it all went wrong. I’ve played good games on the right, so I expected to play there. I wanted to help the team and it’s not that I can’t play at 10. But it did make me play less at the end of the season,” said Dilrosun.

Drenthe provides his table companion with advice. “I see that as a thing. If you are an all-rounder, a trainer will soon also use you as an all-rounder. You will then be a bit annoyed in your qualities. play heaven, but if you feel comfortable in a certain position and are used again in another position the following week… you do it because the coach expects it from you, but it often takes some dynamism out of your game .”

“So my question to you is: what is your favorite position?” Drenthe concludes. “Tough man,” admits Dilrosun. “I think either right winger or left. I’m more likely to score on the right. But I don’t know, man. Sometimes I prefer to be on the right, sometimes on 10, some games I prefer to be on the left.” Dilrosun was used the most on the left flank this season. The left-footer played 15 of his 41 games from there, versus 14 on the right, 11 on ’10’ and one as a shadow striker. In all, Dilrosun produced six goals and eight assists.
