Benfica has made an official offer of ten million euros for Fredrik Aursnes, according to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano. The Italian journalist says that negotiations between Feyenoord and Benfica are in full swing and expects the clubs to work out. It is striking that the offer is significantly lower than what Romano reported about two weeks ago. Then he talked about an amount of fifteen million euros with possible bonuses.

The Norwegian is still in Rotterdam until mid-2024, but would already have a personal agreement with Benfica. Aursnes was Frank Arnesen’s bargain during Feyenoord’s last summer transfer window. The Rotterdammers paid only five tons to the Norwegian Molde. In his first season, the 26-year-old midfielder immediately became one of the most important players in Arne Slot’s team.

Furthermore, Aursnes came into the picture even more with the national team of Norway. In his first season, he played 47 official games for Feyenoord, scoring once and providing four assists. Feyenoord has been linked in recent weeks with several defensive midfielders who could possibly succeed Aursnes. According to The Telegraph the Rotterdammers have offered five million euros on Ramiz Zerrouki of FC Twente. 1908.nl also reported that Feyenoord is monitoring the situation of Sivert Mannsverk, of Aursnes’ former club Molde FK.

Arne Slot gave for the cameras of . last Sunday ESPN already indicated that Feyenoord will enter the transfer market ‘one hundred percent’ if Aursnes leaves. He does not see Quinten Timber as a replacement for the Norwegian. “Timber is the replacement for Guus Til. Then you can say: ‘mhm, is that the exact same player?’ No, so the occupation in the midfield will change slightly. What Guus was very good at was showing aggressiveness and arriving at a duel on time and winning it. That is a quality that our team desperately needs and that we had a little less because of Til’s departure. We solved that again with Quinten.”
