Vitesse is close to a takeover. That is what general director Pascal van Wijk says on the club site of the Arnhemmers. The process of buying the shares of Vitesse has been going on for some time and now there is ‘almost an agreement on a definitive purchase contract’, it can be read.

On June 28 of this year, important steps were already announced by Vitesse, but after that it remained silent. No news about the takeover process could be released, Van Wijk noted. “Like our supporters, we would rather have the transfer arranged today than tomorrow. However, a process of negotiation and meeting many legal conditions, in particular, cannot be forced. Moreover, the extremely careful takeover process benefits from this in all calm and behind the scenes.”

Now, however, the general manager can come up with positive reports. The takeover is now really in sight. “We have almost reached agreement with a takeover party on a definitive purchase contract. After many positive discussions, we are getting closer and closer. It requires a lot of legal work in particular, but we are also ironing out the last folds in this area. We hope the agreement will be concluded soon. possible, so that the license committee of the KNVB can be asked for approval. Until this step is taken, the name and background of the takeover candidate cannot yet be made public.”

Vitesse’s goals, which were drawn up when it became clear that current major shareholder Valeriy Oyf would put the club up for sale, remain intact. “We then set two conditions for the completion of the takeover: being able to guarantee continuity and maintaining Vitesse’s (sporting) ambitions. This remains the approach, but the situation and the duration of the takeover process obviously will affect our current capabilities.”
