Remko Pasveer has in an interview with Fidelity lashed out hard at sports journalist Hugo Borst. AD columnist Borst questioned Pasveer’s collegiality last week. He even indicated that Pasveer, by conspicuously comforting the blundering Jay Gorter, made the situation worse for the young goalkeeper. Poor, says Pasveer, who indicates that he has no respect for people like Borst.

Fidelity writes that Pasveer was visibly irritated about Borst’s column. “I have absolutely no respect for these people. I find this behavior scary. This is trying to harm someone when I’m not like that at all. I did this purely constructively towards Jay, to help him. No, I didn’t think it was correct of Hugo. And he should know that too,” the newspaper quotes Friday afternoon.

The performance of 22-year-old Gorter did not look good with several goals during the match for the Johan Cruijff Scale against PSV (3-5 defeat). After the match it was Pasveer who tried to comfort the visibly broken Gorter. “I recognized that moment so well. I’ve experienced that myself. A lot comes over you and you get a lot of nagging. Jay, someone I like and work well with, was standing there alone, so I went to see him.”

The 38-year-old closing post did not do that for himself. “Look, of course I want to play. That makes sense. But I don’t want to play by making a colleague feel bad. Come on. I want to play because the coach chooses me. Point,” said Pasveer. This Sunday, the team from Amsterdam will play their first game of the Eredivisie season, at 4.30 pm against Fortuna Sittard.
