FC Eindhoven rises to third place in the rankings of the Kitchen Champion Division. Coach Ernie Brandts’ team won the derby against Jong PSV by 1-2, partly thanks to a goal from Kaj de Rooij. FC Volendam achieved its first win of the season against Helmond Sport, thanks to a goal from Nick Doodeman in injury time: 0-1.

Young PSV – FC Eindhoven 1-2
After twenty minutes the Eindhoven derby broke open. Kaj de Rooij, who was linked to a switch to PSV earlier this summer, made a nice 0-1. The nineteen-year-old striker played an excellent first half and showed himself to be threatening several times. Young PSV offered Cheik Touré a chance before half time, but the striker acted carelessly in a promising position. De Rooij did not return to FC Eindhoven after the break and was replaced by Valentino Vermeulen for unclear reasons.

It took only two minutes after the break for Jong PSV to get back on level terms. Richard Ledezma signalled Damian Timan for the 1-1. The tie did not remain on the scoreboard for long, because five minutes later FC Eindhoven were back in the lead. After Hugo Botermans initially hit the post, Jort van der Sande shot into the rebound. FC Eindhoven were given small opportunities to increase the score, but there was no change in the 1-2 score.

Helmond Sport – FC Volendam 0-1
FC Volendam experienced a dramatic season start and only picked up one point from the first three games. Opponent Helmond Sport did better with four points from the first three games and also started the game more dangerously, mainly via Karim Loukili. FC Volendam, however, got the biggest opportunities to get ahead in the preseason phase. Boy Deul placed the ball just wide, while Zakaria El Azzouzi shot over face to face with Helmond Sports Goalkeeper Stijn van Gassel.

After half-time FC Volendam did score, but Marco Tol’s hit was cancelled due to offside. The remainder of the game provided opportunities for Orhan Dzepar and Gaétan Bosiers on behalf of the home team and Jari Vlak and Franco Antonucci for the visitors. For a long time, it looked as if the goalless score would remain on the scoreboard at SolarUnie Stadium, until injury time. Nick Doodeman gave FC Volendam the coveted victory at the behest of Derry John Murkin.
