Donyell Malen makes the definitive switch from PSV to Borussia Dortmund, the clubs have announced via the official channels. Malen has signed a five-year contract with the German top club and provides PSV with approximately thirty million euros, an amount that can increase by approximately four million euros via bonuses. Ajax, where Malen enjoyed part of his youth academy, receives one and a half percent of the transfer fee. Arsenal also benefit. The club from North London touches one percent. BILD already reported on Sunday that the attacker in Dortmund will earn six million annually.

Malen reported to the training camp of on Sunday morning around 10.30 am BVB in Switzerland. There, the attacker was received and shown around by Dortmund directors Hans-Joachim Watzke, Michael Zorc and Sebastian Kehl. Subsequently, Malen underwent a medical examination and signed his contract. Borussia Dortmund are expected to pay a flat fee of around €30 million for the transfer. How much PSV will have left depends on the agreements made with Mino Raiola. The agent is, just like Malen himself, entitled to a part of the transfer fee.

At Dortmund, Malen is seen as the successor to Jadon Sancho, who was recently sold to Manchester United. Malen was stolen by PSV in 2017 for half a million euros from the youth academy of Arsenal. At the time, the attacker had spent two years at the Gunners and before that played for seven years in the youth of Ajax. That is also the reason that the two clubs are entitled to a training allowance. Malen made his official debut for PSV in 2018 and eventually made 116 games for the Eindhoven team. He scored 55 times and provided 24 assists.

PSV meanwhile continues and wants to bring back Luuk de Jong as a replacement for Malen. The Seville attacker would not be unsympathetic to a return to Eindhoven. ASH reported on Sunday, however, that the asking price that the Spaniards currently use could form a stumbling block for PSV. In addition, De Jong was frequently associated with a switch to Besiktas in recent weeks, but so far there has been no definitive transfer. Seville asks according to ASH between eight and ten million euros for De Jong, a transfer fee that is too much for the PSV leadership for the time being.
