Jarrad Branthwaite does not seem to be ‘the bargain’ for PSV Eindhovens Dagblad described a few days ago. The top club would like to take over the twenty-year-old center defender from Everton, but sees his first offer rejected. Sources previously reported to the regional newspaper that Branthwaite should cost at least four to five million euros, but Football International is now talking about seven to ten million euros.

Branthwaite has been playing on a rental basis in Eindhoven since last summer and has developed into a regular basic player in Ruud van Nistelrooij’s team. PSV is so satisfied with the young Englishman that a serious attempt is being made to recruit him permanently. That option arose after the mega transfers of Cody Gakpo (Liverpool) and Noni Madueke (Chelsea), with which PSV added more than eighty million euros.

Earlier, Branthwaite stated that he is having a great time in Eindhoven and said that he can develop well at his temporary employer. The twenty-year-old Englishman was mainly a bench seat during the first half of the season, but after the World Cup break he is assured of a starting place. Everton and PSV are currently discussing the situation of the mandekker, who will be stuck at Goodison Park until mid-2025. The Toffees even have the option to extend the contract by one year.

Everton have had a dramatic season so far. The club from Liverpool is nineteenth on goal difference and recently sacked manager Frank Lampard because of the poor results. In the search for reinforcements, the club ended up with Arnaut Danjuma, who opted for Tottenham Hotspur at the last minute. In addition, owner Farhad Moshiri announced this week that he is putting the club up for sale. According to the Eindhoven Daglad, the team would need money to attract reinforcements before the end of the transfer window, which can make a definitive transfer from Branthwaite more likely.
