Karl Toko Ekambi will finish the season at Stade Rennes, the French club announced through the official channels. The arrival of the Cameroonian means good news for PSV, which is expressly interested in the services of Kamaldeen Sulemana. With the arrival of Toko Ekambi, who is a left winger like Sulemana, a departure of the latter seems to have become more negotiable for Rennes.

knew Wednesday L’Equipe and the Eindhovens Dagblad to report that PSV, like Southampton, has made an offer for the Ghanaian. The rejected proposal from the people of Eindhoven consisted of a fixed transfer fee of fifteen million euros, excluding two million euros in bonuses. Southampton even made an opening bid of seventeen million euros, which has now also been swept off the table. Sulemana, who is still under contract in Western France until mid-2026, should be the successor to Cody Gakpo who left for Liverpool at the Philips Stadium.

However, Rennes does not want to simply cooperate with Sulemana’s departure, as the club is currently struggling with a number of injuries in the front line. For example, key player Martin Terrier and million-dollar purchase Arnaud Kalimuendo are currently unavailable for trainer Bruno Génésio. Technical director Florian Maurice has informed Sulemana’s representatives with the wish to keep him for Rennes, but it is still unknown whether the right leg itself is open to a longer stay in France.

L’Equipe managed to report on Wednesday that Maurice was busy in the background bringing in Toko Ekambi, which has now been successful. As a result, a transfer from Sulemana seems to be getting closer. It is not the first time that the winger has been linked with a transfer to a Dutch top club. In July 2021, Ajax emphatically fished for the services of Sulemana, who opted for a French adventure at the time. For Rennes, Sulemana has six goals and four assists after 46 official appearances.
