Roger Schmidt has announced the line-up for the home game against PEC Zwolle. The PSV trainer has an almost fit selection, after he saw several players return from injuries this week. There are, for example, base places for Cody Gakpo and Noni Madueke. The duel in the Philips Stadium is led by referee Joey Kooij and starts at 9 p.m.

At PSV, the basic place of Gakpo stands out. The attacker was injured by the Dutch national team against Latvia (0-1) and left the camp early. However, he trained with the group again this week and starts against PEC in the base. Madueke is also there from the first minute. The winger had to miss the last three games with a hamstring injury, but is making his comeback. He was injured in the away game against Go Ahead Eagles.

Joël Drommel is also just in the base. The goalkeeper was left out of the the Dutch selection twice and is said to have overslept, but Schmidt did not want to say anything about that during the press conference on Friday. The absence of Ritsu Doan contrasts with the presence of the aforementioned threesome. The midfielder was injured during a training session with the national team of Japan and is not available for the time being. Ryan Thomas and Maximiliano Romero are also absent due to injuries, albeit briefly.

The fact that PEC is currently the red lantern bearer and is still waiting for the first victory of the season does not say much, according to Schmidt. “In my experience, Zwolle is doing quite well this season. They have not been rewarded for their game with only one point. There is a clear idea behind their fighting style, both with and without the ball. They were often close to a result, but grabbed there just beside. For us it is important to note that in the analyses. Although we remain favorites and we have to win, we will have to reach our level for that.”
