Luis Enrique is likely to be the new head coach of Paris Saint-Germain. That reports L’Equipe Sunday. According to the French sports newspaper, only a few details have to be finalized before PSG can present its new choice lord to the public. Christophe Galtier, meanwhile, has still not been formally dismissed.
The transfer soap at the Parc des Princes has been going on since the early elimination in the Champions League. The billion dollar ball is very important to the club management and that is why Galtier’s position was at stake. PSG’s current person with ultimate responsibility is close to a contract termination, but that has yet to be officially confirmed. Enrique therefore seems to be his successor.
It was already announced on Saturday that PSG would move on to ‘the next top candidate’ after the rejection of first choice Julian Nagelsmann. Who this concerned knew L’Equipe not then. It now appears that it concerns Enrique, who has been unemployed since his departure from the Spanish national team after the World Cup in Qatar. There was la roja already eliminated in the eighth final by Morocco.
José Mourinho and Thiago Motta were also linked to the job at PSG. Relev even thought the latter was the ‘top candidate’ to which L’Equipe referenced. Enrique also recently had talks with Chelsea, but now continues his career in Paris. In addition to Spain, he has in the past, among others, Barcelona, Celta de Vigo and AS Roma under his wing.
