Vitinha definitely makes the switch to Paris Saint-Germain. The French top club will officially announce on Thursday that the FC Porto midfielder (22) has signed a five-year contract in the Parc des Princes. PSG will deposit 40 million euros for Vitinha, the amount that was included as a transfer fee in the Portuguese’s contract in Porto until mid-2024.

Porto wanted to extend Vitinha’s ongoing contract so that the midfielder would be active for the club for at least another year. However, by activating the transfer clause by PSG, the Portuguese top club does not succeed in that mission. Vitinha is the third international of Portugal to wear the PSG shirt after Nuno Mendes and Danilo Pereira. The multi-million acquisition comes to Paris on the intercession of the new technical director Luis Campos. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Leonardo’s successor is also working to bring in Milan Skriniar (Inter Milan) and Renato Sanches (Lille OSC). The talks about this are in any case going well, Romano emphasizes.

Vitinha made 47 appearances for Porto in all competitions last season. In those matches, the midfielder scored four times and provided six assists. The PSG acquisition leaves Porto with a total of 59 games to his name. Vitinha went through the entire youth academy of the club and made his debut in January 2020 in the main squad. In the 2020/21 season, the three-time international of Portugal was loaned out to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Porto loses its second strong holder in a short time, after Fábio Vieira made the switch to Arsenal for a total amount of 40 million euros. Vitinha’s name has also been associated with Manchester United, but according to Romano Erik ten Hag’s club has never been serious in the market. The young midfielder is now permanently continuing his career at PSG.
