Casemiro has praise for manager Erik ten Hag. The Brazilian made the switch from Real Madrid to Manchester United for at least seventy million euros and has secured a base place under the Dutch coach since the beginning of this month. Casemiro compares Ten Hag’s winning mentality with that of previous trainers, such as Carlo Ancelotti and Zinedine Zidane.

At the press conference in the run-up to the Premier League match with Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon, Casemiro praised Ten Hag. “It’s his desire to win, his ambitions and his work ethic,” said the 30-year-old midfielder. “Not just from him, but the entire technical staff. They always want to win and never get complacent. Always looking for something new to make the difference in competitions.”

Where Casemiro often had to settle for a few substitutes in the opening phase of the season, he can now often count on a base place from Ten Hag. The Brazilian international says he has to get used to his playing style. “I think Manchester United have a great manager, because you could already see that at Ajax. I think he’s doing well here. He has to work here with a diverse group of players, but I believe we will adapt to his style of play.”

Casemiro was also asked if Ten Hag reminds him of other managers he has worked with in the past. “Every manager has his own way of playing, his own way of coaching. I’ve worked with Carlo Ancelotti and Zinedine Zidane, they are managers who want to win, that’s the most important thing. Hard work and dedication; deeply committed to the club. I think winning is a result of that, because the things they do are essential in that.”
