Tanguy Ndombele seems almost certain to return to Olympique Lyon. Telefoot reports on Sunday that the midfielder who has been sidelined at Tottenham Hotspur is high on the list of the French and that an agreement has now been reached on a rental period. Ndombele, who was brought in by Tottenham for a record €60 million in 2019, was also followed by Paris Saint-Germain in this transfer window, but it seems that interest from Paris has cooled considerably.

Ndombele is no stranger to Lyon, as the 25-year-old midfielder exchanged les gones almost three years ago for a lucrative contract with Tottenham. In North London, however, the seven-time international of France never showed up and he is allowed to leave on a rental basis from manager Antonio Conte. Low point of his English period was the recent FA Cup match with Morecambe (3-1 win). A few weeks ago, the Frenchman was treated to booing during the cup match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tanguy Ndombele seems to be returning to Olympique Lyon after almost three years.

Ndombele, who fell out of favor with Tottenham, made 96 games in his first period in Lyon. According to Telefoot Both clubs are therefore approaching an agreement on the midfielder’s rental deal, which is fixed in England until mid-2025. In addition to PSG, Ndombele was also mentioned at the beginning of January as a possible acquisition of AS Roma. Trainer Jose Mourinho would see something in a renewed collaboration, but Lyon seems to have the best papers a few weeks later to do business with Tottenham.

Trainer Peter Bosz has been strengthening Lyon’s midfield for some time, mainly as they are about to sell Bruno Guimaraes to Newcastle United for €40million. Giovani Lo Celso was the main candidate to succeed him, but according to RMC Sports does not want to trade the Argentine midfielder Tottenham for Lyon. In addition, the salary demands of Rodrigo Bentancur were too much for the French club. The Uruguayan midfielder now appears to be trading Juventus for Tottenham.
