Peter Bosz has set his sights on signing Xherdan Shaqiri, reports L’Equipe Monday night. The 29-year-old midfielder already indicated at the end of July that he would like to leave Liverpool and was linked to AS Roma and Napoli, among others. Now Olympique Lyon, which has already submitted a formal offer, appears to be on pole position to sign the Swiss international.

Shaqiri, the one with the Reds has a contract until mid-2022, was already missing from Jürgen Klopp’s match selection for the exhibition game with Osasuna on Monday. This has already started the rumor mill, and according to L’Equipe His absence has everything to do with the transfer troubles surrounding Lyon, which has made an offer of unknown height for the attacking midfielder.

The French newspaper estimates the value of Shaqiri at five to seven million euros, while Transfermarkt maintains a current market value of twelve million euros. However, a number of folds still need to be ironed out before the parties can reach an agreement. Shaqiri’s salary demands in particular could be a stumbling block for les Gones.

Shaqiri is not the only player on Bosz’s wish list. In addition to goalkeeper André Onana, the coach also hopes to persuade Sardar Azmoun to make the switch. The Iranian striker has an expiring contract with Zenit Saint Petersburg, which has attached a price tag of twenty million euros to the goal getter. Given the short remaining contract period with the Russian club, expected L’Equipe not that Lyon will actually pay the desired amount for the 26-year-old attacker.
