Paris Saint-Germain narrowly avoided defeat at home on Sunday. Coach Luis Enrique's team seemed to lose 0-1 to Stade Rennes, which would have turned a league match into a win for the seventh time in a row. Amine Gouiri did not become the match winner, because Gonçalo Ramos took a penalty deep in injury time: 1-1. PSG is eleven points ahead of closest pursuer Stade Brest.

PSG did not have much to fear from Rennes in the opening phase, although great opportunities in the Parc des Princes were not forthcoming for a long time. Vitinha came close in the twentieth minute. However, his shot was prey for veteran Steve Mandanda.

After more than half an hour of play, Rennes struck mercilessly. Gouiri received the ball in midfield, rushed towards the box, skilfully passed Danilo and finished beautifully with the outside right into the top corner behind the hopeless Gianluigi Donnarumma: 0-1.

Gouiri could then also have made it 0-2. The defense was not yet up to speed and the Algerian moved a few meters wide this time. In the remainder of the first half, PSG was unable to create any serious opportunities. The pace was simply too slow and there didn't seem to be any real urgency.

PSG did not play convincingly even after the break. The pace was too slow to destroy the stiff Rennes. However, due to the surplus of quality, it was always a matter of time before the Parisians would get opportunities. For example, Kylian Mbappé received the ball on the edge of sixteen, and then shot less than half a meter wide.

Ousmane Dembélé was sent deep on the right in the attack that next. The winger passed, but did not reach a teammate. Rennes tried to strike via the counter and almost succeeded. Benjamin Bourigeaud, who scored a hat-trick in the Europa League against AC Milan in midweek, shot narrowly wide after a sharp pass from the left.

In the final phase, PSG claimed a penalty twice. The first time the protests turned out to be in vain, but not deep into injury time. Mandanda took down Gonçalo Ramos and saw the Portuguese himself prepare for the golden opportunity. The striker hit the top left corner: 1-1.
