Georginio Wijnaldum can almost call himself an AS Roma player. The 31-year-old midfielder has already indicated that he would like to make the move to the Roman club on a rental basis, and now it is up to Roma and Paris Saint-Germain to reach an agreement. The main stumbling block in the negotiations between the two parties is currently salary, reports Sky Italy.

Wijnaldum remains according to Sky Italy the main target of the Roman club, who would like to take him on a loan with option to buy from PSG. However, the clubs are currently unable to agree on who will pay his salary. The Paris club would like AS Roma to also pay Wijnaldum’s full salary in the event of a rental, while i Giallorossi would like to see PSG remain responsible for part of the salary.

Negotiations between the two clubs about a transfer from Wijnaldum have been going on for some time. These are expected to continue in the coming hours and days. PSG would like to say goodbye to the 86-time international due to the high salary of Wijnaldum (nine million euros per year), who also seems to have no future in Paris. Wijnaldum then indicated that he could get his career back on track under Jose Mourinho.

Earlier this transfer period, AS Roma, where Dutchmen Rick Karsdorp and Justin Kluivert are also under contract, already strengthened themselves with Paulo Dybala, Nemanja Matic, Zeki Celik and Mile Svilar. A transfer to Roma could be a win-win situation for Wijnaldum. The midfielder has fallen out of the picture with the Dutch national team and, in addition to considerably more playing time, can also put himself back in the spotlight with Louis van Gaal. During the past international period, the national coach of the Dutch left him to the left.
