Daan Reiziger exchanged Ajax for Vitesse in the summer of 2021, but only made his official debut for the Arnhem team this season due to injuries. This season, the team is having a hard time in the Eredivisie, but the last two matches were won and they did that with Reiziger on goal. Incidentally, it would not have been close if the Groninger had still played at Ajax.

Vitesse only booked three victories in the Eredivisie this season and all three with Reiziger under the bar. Thanks to injuries from Kjell Scherpen and Markus Schubert, Reiziger was able to grab his chance. In the Eredivisie match against SC Cambuur (0-3 win), he replaced the injured Scherpen with a 0-1 lead. He still knew his teammate at Vitesse from his time at Ajax, where he played for more than five years.

At the age of fifteen he exchanged FC Groningen for Ajax. “I was fifteen when I went internal to Ajax, when I was sixteen I lived on my own,” he told Football International. In Amsterdam he played in Jong Ajax together with Devyne Rensch, Kenneth Taylor, Jurriën Timber and Brian Brobbey. Players he will probably encounter on the field next Wednesday, during the rescheduled Eredivisie match against Ajax.

Traveler had the opportunity to stay with Ajax last year, signed VI up from his mouth. “I played in Jong Ajax and was on the bench a few times at the first. Still, I was told I could leave, because they saw more potential in Calvin Raatsie. After that announcement, I played nine more matches in Jong Ajax and I experienced a national championship from the bench.”

Traveler did that properly and was eventually even able to sign up in Amsterdam. “After those nine games, Marc Overmars still came up with a proposal to extend, but I was already looking around. I wanted to look elsewhere, where the chance of playing minutes would be greater. At Ajax there was of course a wealth of keepers on the payroll.” At Vitesse, Reiziger still has a contract until mid-2024.
