Willian Pacho will make the switch from Royal Antwerp to Eintracht Frankfurt after this season. Both clubs report this through the official channels. The Ecuadorian right back provides his club with a record sum and that is the merit of technical director Marc Overmars, who conducted the negotiations. Reportedly, Antwerp may add about sixteen million euros.

Pacho came to Antwerp from Ecuador in January 2022 for more than two million. From that moment on, the defender was a permanent fixture for the GreatOld and trainer Mark van Bommel also often calls on Pacho this season. Antwerp does not make any statements about the amount of the transfer fee, but does say that a new outgoing record has been set. German media are reporting a transfer fee of around sixteen million euros.

On the Frankfurt club site, Markus Krösche, the club’s director of football affairs, is pleased with the signing of Pacho. “This is a very important transfer for us,” said the German. “Willian is still a young player, but has already gained the necessary international experience. We hope that he will develop with us and fulfill his potential.” Pacho has signed a contract that binds him to the Frankfurt formation until mid-2028.

Setting a transfer record is good news for Overmars, who also set a new record last summer. Then he sold Manuel Benson for four million euros to the English Burnley, but that amount is now out of the books. The most expensive incoming transfer that Overmars completed was that of Vincent Janssen. The 28-year-old attacker was taken over from the Mexican Monterrey in the summer of 2022 for five and a half million euros.
