Vitesse also won his second game of the season on Saturday night. The Arnhemmers, who were led by Edward Sturing and Nicky Hofs in the absence of almost all technical staff, finished 2-0 with Sparta Rotterdam. Oussama Tannane became the absolute man of the match with an unparalleled free kick from a great distance and excellent field play.

The absolute highlight of the match was Tannane’s goal. Vitesse’s midfielder was allowed to dock in the 27th minute for a free kick of about thirty metres. Tannane produced a knuckleball that whirled hard in the left intersection: 1-0. A minute after the beautiful opening goal, Sparta should have reached the same level again. Mohamed Rayhi was sent one-on-one with Vitesse goalkeeper Remko Pasveer, but aimed the ball just wide.

Just before halftime Sparta had to continue with ten men, because Michael Heylen took his second yellow card. The defender played the ball too far in front of him and brought Thomas Bruns down hard, in an attempt to recover it. Strengthened by the over number Vitesse went in search of his second goal after the break. Lois Openda produced a roll in free position, however, while Oussama overcame Darfalou.

Sparta, with ten men, was completely out of the picture and had to confine herself to defending. The Rotterdammers were successful in that for a long time, as Vitesse missed good chances via Bruns, Maximilian Wittek and Openda. In the 82nd minute the Arnhemmers threw the game into the lock. Sparta goalkeeper Benjamin van Leer pushed the ball back into the field after a shot from distance from Tannane, allowing Armando Borja to tap in easily.
