Ousmane Dembele is temporarily sidelined at Barcelona. The French winger has a hamstring injury, the Spanish top club announced on Thursday afternoon. The club does not disclose how long Dembele will not be available. Sergiño Dest did not come out of the duel with Dynamo Kiev (0-1 win) armpit fresh. The American international has problems with his back.

Dembele, who has often had serious problems with his hamstring, has been sidelined at Barcelona since May. He was injured in the European Championship match against Hungary. Initially, his injury appeared to be minor, but he had to put a line through the remainder of the tournament and in June, after further investigation, Barcelona announced that surgery was necessary because of damage to a tendon in his right knee. He has been working hard on his recovery in recent months.

On Tuesday he made his first minutes of this season in Ukraine. On a visit to Dynamo Kiev, he came in as a substitute 25 minutes before the end of the game. It will have been the last minutes for the French international for the time being. The 24-year-old Dembélé has been sidelined more often in recent years with a hamstring injury. He underwent several surgeries to put the injuries behind him.

The umpteenth setback in the career of Dembele, whose expiring contract Barcelona would like to extend according to Spanish media, means in any case that he cannot play against Celta de Vigo next Saturday afternoon (4.15 pm). Dest also cannot play on Saturday due to his injury and that also applies to Pedri, Gerard Pique and Martin Braithwaite.
