Tottenham Hotspur does not seem to have to count on the arrival of Stefan de Vrij in January. Internazionale does not want to let players go in the coming international period, technical director Piero Ausilio tells Sky Italy. According to various English and Italian media, De Vrij is high on the wish list of Antonio Conte, who was appointed this week as the successor to the dismissed Nuno Espírito Santo.

According to English media, Conte can go shopping in January with a budget of 175 million euros. He would have aimed his arrows at, among others, Dusan Vlahovic of Fiorentina and De Vrij. However, the latter does not seem to be allowed to leave. “The intention is to move forward with this roster,” Ausilio says. “In January we will not be handling requests for possible transfers. In the upcoming transfer window, we just want to continue what we started in June.”

At the moment, however, Ausilio does not see the need to let players leave in the short term. “We will only look at outgoing transfers in the summer. But even then it is mainly about strengthening Inter, not about weakening the team.” According to Ausilio, Conte does not have to knock on Inter. “I wish him the best for his new adventure. I know how much passion and quality he has and I am sure he will do well at Tottenham.”

De Vrij, whose contract at Giuseppe Meazza runs until mid-2023, is not the only the Dutch international who would be on Conte’s wish list. The name of Matthijs de Ligt also sings in the corridors. He would be one of Conte’s targets at Tottenham. Other names suddenly linked with a transfer to Tottenham are Federico Chiesa (Juventus), Franck Kessié (AC Milan), Manuel Lazzarri (Lazio) and Alesandro Bastoni (Inter Milan).
