Olympique Marseille failed to defeat Toulouse at home: 0-0. Ajax’s upcoming opponent, who currently occupies third place in Ligue 1, was unable to convert the dominance into goals on Sunday. Marseille came close to scoring several times, but the fans present had to leave the stadium after ninety minutes without cheering once.

Particularities:
Marseille started in the Stade Vélodrome with summer acquisitions Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Joaquín Correa in the starting line-up, while Toulouse Groningen’s Thijs Dallinga was the striker. Zakaria Aboukhlal and Stijn Spierings had to settle for a role as substitute. Although Marseille was the superior party, coach Marcelino’s team did not manage to take full advantage. Guillaume Rester, Toulouse’s only eighteen-year-old closing post, managed to distinguish himself a number of times with great reflexes on goal attempts by Aubameyang, Vitinha and Renan Lodi. Midfielder Valentin Rongier was closest to the winning goal in the second act, but saw his header end up on the left post. Moments later, Jonathan Clauss (Marseille) shot another free kick onto the crossbar. Dallinga had the chance to steal the victory in the final phase, but saw his shot fly sky-high over the goal.
