The announcement of Noussair Mazraoui’s arrival at Bayern Munich is only a matter of time, sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic acknowledged on Wednesday. wrote last week BILD that the almost transfer-free wing defender of Ajax has already been medically examined at of the Rekordmeister and now his imminent arrival is also confirmed by the club management. According to the German boulevard newspaper, Mazraoui will earn about eight million euros gross on an annual basis in Munich.

“He’s the type of player that all of Europe was looking for,” Salihamidzic told TZ† “We are very happy that he has decided to play with us in the coming years. He is a player who will strengthen our team.” There are only a few finishing touches to be made, according to the director. “We are in the final phase. It looks good. He has performed well in recent years and brings something innovative to our team. We know how difficult it is to find a good right-back.”

The transition from Mazraoui to Bavaria has been in the air for some time. In mid-April, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano already reported that the Moroccan had agreed to Bayern’s contract proposal. Earlier, Barcelona seemed to have the best papers to sign Mazraoui, while Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan also showed interest. BILD previously reported that a salary proposal of eight million euros per year was successful with the defender. According to Romano, the agreement was reached during the last meeting with his recently deceased agent Mino Raiola.

With the forthcoming agreement, Mazraoui’s sixteen-year employment with Ajax will come to an end. The defender entered Ajax’s youth academy in 2006 after having previously played with amateur associations AVV Alphen and Alphense Boys. Mazraoui made his debut under Erik ten Hag in 2018 and was the replacement for Joël Veltman in April of that year, who was seriously injured. The right back managed to become national champion twice with Ajax and twice to win the TOTO KNVB Cup. This season, a third national title can be added.
