Sébastien Haller is Borussia Dortmund’s favorite to succeed Erling Braut Haaland, who is leaving for Manchester City, reports Sports1 Thursday. The board of the German club wants to present an adequate replacement for the Norwegian top scorer as soon as possible. Haller may leave Ajax for around 35 million euros, where his contract will run until mid-2025.

Journalist Patrick Berger of Sports1 emphasizes in his tweet that Dortmund must first sell a player before switching to Haller. In that context, Manuel Akanji is nominated to BVB to leave after this season. Dortmund recently attracted Karim Adeyemi for a record amount of 38 million euros, but not the attacker of Red Bull Salzburg but Haller is considered as the successor of Haaland.

Haller, who finally scored again for Ajax in competition in the championship match against sc Heerenveen (5-0) on Wednesday, made a particularly impressive impression in the Champions League this season. The attacker closed the European adventure with eleven goals. In the Eredivisie, Haller has 21 goals and 7 assists. Partly because of this, he is back in the picture at Dortmund, which the Ajax player still knows from his period in the Bundesliga at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Haller was also in the picture at Dortmund in December last year, which was already looking for suitable successors to Haaland. BILD reported at the time that Ajax had an asking price of forty million euros. An official offer was not made in Amsterdam almost six months ago, although it seems that Dortmund’s interest in Haller is a lot more concrete.
