Latest update:

Azor Matusiwa will transfer from Stade Reims to Stade Rennes, it is reported L'Équipe Thursday. According to the French sports newspaper, his new employer will transfer no less than 16 million euros for his services, an amount that could later increase to 20 million euros through bonuses. 25-year-old Matusiwa was detained in Reims until mid-2027.

Rennes wants to hurry with the transfer of Matusiwa, who should be available immediately in the cup match against Olympique Marseille on Sunday. The number 10 of Ligue 1, who is also active in Europe, will initially hire the controller from Hilversum from Reims

Rennes must then permanently acquire Matusiwa in the summer for an amount of 16 million euros. Through easily achievable bonuses, Matusiwa Reims can generate an additional 4 million euros at a later stage.

Matusiwa has been playing for Reims since the summer of 2021 and has proven to be a bull's eye for the club. At the time, the right leg was taken over from FC Groningen for just 4 million euros, where he was captain.

The Dutch youth international quickly became an absolute star at Reims. In France people are praising Matusiwa's physical and footballing qualities.

Matusiwa enjoyed part of his youth training at Ajax, where he played one match in the main squad under coach Erik ten Hag. Last summer he was frequently linked with a return to Amsterdam.

However, Ajax never became concrete for Matusiwa. The Amsterdam team brought in several cheaper controllers with Benjamin Tahirovic, Sivert Mannsverk and Branco van den Boomen.
