Edson Álvarez would be in the interest of West Ham United. This is reported by British journalist Graeme Bailey. West Ham is not the first club to hunt for the Mexican’s signature, because Chelsea has also been interested in Álvarez since last summer, who has already made his departure wish known to the number two in the Eredivisie.

Álvarez would be seen as a potential successor to Declan Rice at West Ham. The 23-year-old Englishman, who has been in the first team since 2017 the Hammers would be in the interest of Chelsea. Incidentally, Rice would only like to leave next summer, so that Álvarez can still finish the season in the Eredivisie.

Earlier this week reported Ben Jacobs, journalist of CBS Sports although Chelsea is still planning to release Álvarez from Ajax. According to Jacobs, owner Todd Boehly the Mexican made a commitment about this in September, and he intends to keep it. According to the journalist, Ajax can therefore expect a call from Stamford Bridge this month.

Chelsea are looking for a midfield cleaner given N’Golo Kante has been out for a long time. Jorginho, Denis Zakaria, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mateo Kovacic can also use the position of the Frenchman, but the latter two in particular are more like box-to-box midfielders. Last summer, Ajax refused a bid of fifty million euros for Álvarez, so the team from Amsterdam seems to be able to cash in considerably with a transfer from Álvarez.
