Wilfred Genee, René van der Gijp and Johan Derksen have VI Today an absolute hit on SBS 6but are getting a serious competitor this week. The Evening Show with Arjen Lubach started very successfully on Monday and immediately seemed to draw a good number of viewers away from VI Todayaccording to the figures of View research

Monday is usually one of the best days for VI Today: The last three weeks the talk show had at least 900 thousand on the first working day of the week. On Monday, February 7, the program even crossed the 1 million mark. This week the start was significantly less good: only an average of 717,000 viewers tuned their TV to the notorious talk show. This made it one of the least watched broadcasts since the program started in January.

The talk show war has definitely ignited in the Netherlands this week. Lubach attracted no less than 1.6 million viewers with his brand new show NPO† on RTL 4 Eva Jinek kicked off her new season with Mark Rutte in the lead role. The Prime Minister did not turn out to be the viewing figure that Jinek would have hoped for, because the talk show reached 872,000 viewers. Jinek and VI Today are certainly not the worst-scoring talk shows. Those are m by Margriet van der Linden (611,000 viewers) and HLF8 by Johnny de Mol (405,000 viewers).
