Newcastle United are doing everything they can to sign Diego Carlos in the final week of the winter transfer window. The Magpies are going to increase their offer for the 28-year-old center defender of Seville to no less than 55 million euros including bonuses, reports marca. Sevilla considers Marcos Senesi as one of the possible successors to Diego Carlos.

Newcastle’s search for a new center back in January is disappointing for the club. Although the immensely wealthy Saud Arab administrators had a lot to spare for Sven Botman, Lille OSC kept its footing strong and the captain of the Dutch Juniors remained in France. Sevilla, in turn, does not want to cooperate with the departure of Diego Carlos, but a new sky-high bid could change the Andalusians’ minds.

Diego Carlos is considered one of the better centre-backs in La Liga, but has not yet made his debut with the Brazilian national team. Newcastle saw an initial offer of 35 million euros rejected by Sevilla, but are now prepared to go a lot further. Diego Carlos also has an escape clause of eighty million euros, but that amount is even too much for Newcastle.

Diego Carlos himself is eager to go to Newcastle to fulfill his dream of playing in the Premier League. The mandekker can also double his current salary in the north of England and sign for four and a half years. The South American has been under contract with Sevilla since 2019, which transferred fifteen million euros to Nantes. Diego Carlos has played 121 matches for the Spanish club so far.

marca So calls Senesi as a potential successor to Diego Carlos at Sevilla. The Madrid newspaper expects Feyenoord to ask no less than 35 million euros for the 24-year-old Argentinian, although that amount seems on the high side. Senesi is still in a contract for another year and a half and Feyenoord cannot afford to let the most expensive purchase in club history leave on a free transfer. The Rotterdammers are therefore not unwilling to leave. Senesi cost about seven million euros two and a half years ago.
