Claudio Ranieri has been fired from Watford after just three and a half years of employment, reports The Athletic. The Italian manager has only scored one point in the last eight league games and has therefore had to leave. Watford is now looking for his third trainer this season, after Xisco Muñoz was sacked on October 3.

Watford owner Gino Pozzo no longer had the confidence that the Hornets with Ranieri avert relegation in the Premier League. The former champions maker of Leicester City led Watford to a surprising 4-1 win against Manchester United at the end of November, but did not win a single game after that. Watford now dangles in nineteenth place in the Premier League. Norwich City, which is in safe sixteenth place, is still in sight and has only two points more.

His dismissal cannot come as a big surprise to Ranieri, as Watford has a reputation in that area. In the last two and a half years, including Ranieri, there have been no fewer than seven different managers for the group of players at the club. Not a single trainer lasted at least half a year at Watford.
