National coach Aliou Cissé of Senegal has again had to take a downer. The paperwork of left back Ismail Jacobs is not in order in time, as a result of which RSC Anderlecht defender Moussa N’Diaye has been included in the selection. It was previously announced that star attacker Sadio Mané will have to miss the World Cup in Qatar due to an injury.

Jacobs is the child of a Senegalese father and German mother and was born in Cologne. As a nine-time international for Germany, national coach Cissé brought AS Monaco’s left back into the selection of Senegal for the first time in September for the friendly matches against Bolivia (0-2 win) and Iran (1-1). Jacobs played in both friendly matches. However, the paperwork regarding the transfer of the 23-year-old defender is not in order in time, so that he is missing against the Dutch national team on Monday due to ‘administrative reasons’.

Cissé switched immediately by adding N’Diaye to his World Cup selection. The twenty-year-old left back, who has never played an international match for Senegal, takes the place of the injured Mané, for whom no replacement was initially called up. N’Diaye has played thirteen official matches for Anderlecht this season, in which he was good for two assists.

Last Thursday it was announced that Senegal will have to do without Mané at the World Cup in Qatar. The Senegalese is too injured to be present at the tournament, the Senegalese football federation reported. The star player is struggling with a leg injury and initially seemed to make it to the World Cup, but his name eventually had to be drawn.
