Willem II lost points for the third time in a row on Sunday. Kevin Hofland’s team was the better party visiting FC Dordrecht, especially in the second half, but was 2-1 behind for a long time. Substitute Michael de Leeuw saved Tilburg’s honor just in time. Due to the draw, Willem II – still active in the Eredivisie last season – will enter the winter break as ninth

It were the Tricolores who shot out of the starting blocks on Sunday afternoon at the Matchoholic Stadium. Striker Jizz Hornkamp put Max Svensson alone after two minutes in front of Dordrecht goalie Liam Bossin, after which the Swede remained cool and scored the 0-1. Ringo Meerveld could have doubled the margin less than four minutes later, but the number 10 of the Tilburgers shot wide.

Meerveld’s miss was mercilessly punished by the hosts halfway through the first act. Jerailly Wielzen passed the ball from the right in front of Samuele Longo, who headed in his fifth of the season. Dordrecht smelled blood and was helped in the saddle by Leeroy Owusu, who caused a penalty. Feyenoord mercenary Aliou Baldé stood behind the ball and made no mistake: 2-1.

The visitors had a hard time coming up with an answer. Baldé, however, failed to close the match after an hour of play on behalf of Dordrecht, after which Willem II woke up. In the last fifteen minutes, the Tilburgers started, and substitutes Jeremy Bokila and Michael de Leeuw jointly secured a point. The former headed through a long ball, on which De Leeuw – also with his head – was the final destination. Freek Heerkens was even close to 2-3 in the final phase, but Bossin distinguished himself with an excellent save.
