Victor Osimhen is out of circulation for weeks, reports Sky Italy. Napoli’s 24-year-old top striker has returned injured from his international obligations with Nigeria and will in any case miss the top match against AC Milan on Sunday evening. The Italian medium even reports that Osimhen is struggling with a serious hamstring injury, which also threatens the diptych with Milan in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

Osimhen is in absolute top form at Napoli this season. The fast center forward scored 25 goals and five assists in 29 official matches. As a result, the striker is well on his way to his first prize in Italy. Leader Napoli is no less than nineteen (!) points ahead of pursuer Lazio in Serie A. In addition, the club is still playing in the final phase of the Champions League in which Milan, just like next Sunday, is the opponent. Particularly in the European diptych in mid-April, Osimhen’s injury would be a major problem.

What is extra sour for trainer Luciano Spalletti is that Giacomo Raspadori is still struggling with a muscle injury. Normally, the Italian is the permanent stand-in for Osimhen. For example, Raspadori was twice accurate in the Johan Cruijff ArenA, when Osimhen had to miss the match against Ajax (1-6) due to an injury. It is expected that Giovanni Simeone, the son of Atlético Madrid coach Diego, will occupy the striker position against Milan.

Fortunately for Spalletti, he has Khvicha Kvaratskhelia at his disposal, who is also having an amazing season in Naples. The 22-year-old left winger from Georgia recently received a wonderful compliment from Osimhen. “Everyone loves him in the dressing room. For what he does on the field, but also for what he does off the field. I believe he can win the Ballon d’Or in the years to come, and I hope he will bring great success to Napoli.”
