In 2023, social media will be a cornerstone of society. Top players such as Lionel Messi, Memphis Depay and Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as clubs from home and abroad, give (almost) daily insight into the ins and outs via Instagram, Twitter or other internet channels. Special football moments also travel across the planet at lightning speed. Football zone lists the craziest, most beautiful and most striking posts on social media in the section VZ Social.

Mykhaylo Mudryk took a bad turn at Joey Swoll. The Chelsea attacker captured footage on Tuesday of an old man in a gym whose pants had slipped down during an exercise on the rowing machine. The Ukrainian decided to share the video with his 1.4 million followers, but he was not thanked for that. Swoll, a well-known fitness influencer, does not have a good word for Mudryk’s action.

“So you see that guy in the gym working hard, trying to improve himself, with a trainer,” said Swoll. “He’s in an embarrassing situation, kind of naked. And you decide, ‘Hey, let’s make a video of it to post on social media to make fun of him.’ All for attention. Really? Excuse my language, but what the hell is wrong with you? You’re a professional footballer, you play for Chelsea in the Premier League! Is this really how you want to represent yourself and your team?”

It is not the first time that Mudryk has been in the news negatively with a post on social media. Shortly after joining Chelsea in January, the Ukrainian was discredited for a racist comment on TikTok. Mudryk came over from Shakhtar Donetsk for more than a hundred million this winter, but is in a serious form crisis with Chelsea. The London powerhouse is twelfth in the Premier League. Frank Lampard’s team will take on Manchester United on Thursday evening.
