Mohammed Kudus scored a beautiful goal for West Ham United on Saturday afternoon. When he visited Brentford, he made it 1-1 with an overhead kick. Ultimately the game ended in favor the Hammers in a defeat: 3-2. For the time being, West Ham is therefore in eleventh place in the Premier League. Brentford climbs to ninth place.

Brentford, with Mark Fleken under the bar, took the lead early in the match. A cross was headed away by the West Ham defense, after which the ball ended up with Frank Onyeka. He shot towards goal, where Neal Maupay was ready to head in from close range: 1-0.

However, Brentford could not enjoy the lead for very long, and Kudus was responsible for that. In the nineteenth minute, a cross ended up in the penalty area, and the Ghanaian decided to take the ball out of the air in one go with a bicycle kick. The ball sailed into the long corner, behind Flokken: 1-1.

West Ham had a taste of it, because halfway through the first half it was already 1-2. Saïd Benrahma passed the ball, after which the ball ended up on the post via Kudus. However, Jarrod Bowen was quick to catch the rebound the Hammers to take the lead.

After half-time, Fleks remained in the dressing room after colliding with teammate Konstantinos Mavropanos following a West Ham free kick in the first half. After that collision he was still able to play for half an hour, so the substitution ultimately seemed to be made mainly as a precaution.

With Thomas Strakoshka under the bar as the Dutchman’s replacement, Brentford looked for the equalizer, and it came in the 55th minute. A corner was taken shortly, after which the cross was headed into his own goal by Mavropanos: 2-2.

Twenty minutes before the end it became even better for the home team, when they took the lead for the second time. A nice cross from Mathias Jensen was headed in by Nathan Collins. Brentford did not relinquish that 3-2 lead.
