On Monday evening Jong PSV booked an oppressive victory at Jong Ajax: 1-2. In the first half the people of Eindhoven came up against the ratio on a 0-2 lead. Jurgen Ekkelenkamp went back a bit in injury time in the first half, but even with one man more after a red card from Justin de Haas, the home side were unable to score. Young Ajax remains at zero points in the Kitchen Champion Division after three games.

Young Ajax coach Mitchell van der Gaag got a number of players from the A-squad on Monday evening. Under the watchful eye of head coach Erik ten Hag, Lassina Traoré and Jurgen Ekkelenkamp started from the base. The latter in particular asserted himself in the opening phase. Already in the fourth minute he had a great chance to open the score, but Jong PSV-keeper Maxime Delanghe. The visitors had nothing to contribute in the first twenty minutes, but still got the lead. A free kick on the edge of the penalty area was worked in by captain Justin de Haas. Goalkeeper Dominik Kotarsi had no chance as the ball changed direction by Kenneth Taylor.

Coach Peter Uneken’s team did well in the lead, resulting in another goal. Less than ten minutes after the opening goal it was Cheick Touré who let Kotarski fish for the second time in the evening. Young Ajax were a bit upset and eventually picked up the thread again. The pressure on Delanghe’s goal was stepped up and Van der Gaag’s team were paid to work. After a nice double combination between Traoré and Ekkelenkamp, the attacking midfielder punctured the ball against the ropes: 1-2.

In the second company the game went up and down and Jong PSV got several chances to expand the lead. PSV’s promises failed to score and had to continue with another twenty minutes on the clock with one man less after De Haas got his second yellow card. Invaders Naci Ünüvar and Brian Brobbey were close to the equaliser: Ünüvar hit the post from a corner kick and Brobbey got a number of good head chances. In injury time Ünüvar escaped a red card, his charge on the ankle of right back Shurandy Sambo was only punished with yellow. The last chance of the match was for Ajacied Terrence Douglas, but he also hit the post.
