Mimoun Mahi leaves FC Utrecht permanently, the Domstedelingen announced on Thursday. The 29-year-old winger makes the transfer-free transfer to De Graafschap, where he has signed a contract for three seasons. Last season, Mahi was already stabled on a rental basis at SC Cambuur, the club he will meet next season in the Kitchen Champion Division.

De Graafschap brings in an experienced player with Mahi. The attacker has so far played 180 matches in the Eredivisie and 32 matches in the Kitchen Champion Division. He was accurate 52 times and gave 29 assists. At Utrecht, the chances of playing time were minimal, which is why Mahi prefers an adventure outside the Dom city.

“I am very happy to be here”, the flank player says in a first reaction. “I believe in the ambition that the club has expressed and the plan they have for the team and me. I am very excited to get started for this great club.” Technical manager Peter Bijvelds is also delighted. “Mimoun has shown that he can score and we expect him to immediately add offensive impulses to our group .”

Jordy Zuidam acknowledges that the chance of playing time at Utrecht was minimal for Mahi. “We talked to Mimoun about his situation and thought along with him when De Graafschap reported for him,” said the technical director on the club site. “We thank him for his commitment to FC Utrecht and wish him a good continuation of his career.”
