Middlesbrough requires about seventeen million euros for striker Chuba Akpom, reports Sky Sports. Football International brought the news on Wednesday that Ajax sees the ideal competitor for Brian Brobbey in the 27-year-old attack leader. However, Akpom can also count on interest from the Premier League and Ligue 1.

Akpom has been under contract with Middlesbrough since September 2020. Boro would not be unwilling to sell the easily scoring striker. The English are betting on a transfer fee of seventeen million euros and only want to let Akpom go when they manage to find a replacement themselves. In the battle for the striker’s signature, Ajax is reportedly facing competition from the French RC Lens and Sheffield United, which achieved promotion to the Premier League last season.

It is as yet unclear whether talks have already taken place between Ajax and Middlesbrough about a transfer from Akpom. Well, according to VI it is clear that director of football affairs Sven Mislintat has added the striker to his wish list. Transfer market estimates the market value of the center forward, who will run out of his contract in mid-2024, at twelve million euros.

Akpom went through the youth academy of Arsenal, where Mislintat also worked. After his departure from Arsenal, the center forward played on a rental basis for Hull City, Brighton & Hove Albion and Paok Saloniki, among others. Last season he needed 38 league games for 28 goals, making him the Championship’s top scorer. Akpom would not be the only one on the wish list of the technical director of Ajax, although other names have not yet been mentioned.
