Milos Kerkez has been in the spotlight at Lazio. The Hungarian wing defender of AZ is experiencing his breakthrough in the first team of the Alkmaarders this season and that has also been noticed in Italy. According to transfer journalist Nicolò Schira, Lazio is looking for a new left wingback and Kerkez, like Fabiano Parisi of Empoli, is on the wish list.

Igli Tare, the technical director of the Romans, hopes to add a left back to the selection in the winter transfer period. With Dimitrije Kamenovic, Lazio only has one real wingback for the left in their ranks and so the squad could use some reinforcements in that position. Schira reports that the list of possible reinforcements is not that long, because for now only Parisi and Kerkez are being monitored.

Lazio’s scouts will have seen Kerkez in excellent form since becoming AZ’s regular left-back this season. The Hungarian, who is only eighteen years old, has effortlessly taken over the role of Owen Wijndal who left for Ajax and has already played in 21 official matches on behalf of AZ this season. In those games, he provided six assists and also scored twice. In addition, Kerkez made his debut for the Hungarian national team.

Kerkez was trained by Rapid Wien, who saw no future in him in 2019. The Hungarian Hódmezövásárhely FC picked him up and through Györ FC the left back ended up at AC Milan in February 2021. That club sold him to AZ in January of this year for two million euros. Since Kerkez is still fixed until mid-2026, the North Holland club could get a multiple of the purchase amount back in the event of a sale of the eighteen-year-old defender.
