Stefano Pioli had a bizarre action on Wednesday against his own star player Rafael Leão. During a training session, the coach of AC Milan hit the Portuguese with a high leg, who apparently escaped unscathed. Remarkably enough, those present at the training laughed the incident off.

The now 57-year-old Pioli participated in a rondo at the Milanello training complex and in an attempt to intercept the ball, he sprinted towards Leão. In a most remarkable moment, Pioli then lifted his right leg, knocking the winger off in Rossoneri hit. Leão seemed to avoid the heaviest impact of the charge by jumping away just in time and making a somersault.

Leão is one of Milan’s key players with nine goals and ten assists across all competitions. It makes Pioli’s action all the more remarkable, as the attacker is desperately needed against Wednesday the Spurs to redeem the 1-0 win from the first leg in the return of the Champions League. The Milanese defused the attack of the English in the first leg of the round of 16 match and won thanks to a goal by Brahim Díaz: 1-0.

Olivier Giroud and Díaz are available again for the game against Tottenham. They struggled with the flu and knee complaints respectively, but reported back to training on Wednesday. As a result, it seems very likely that they are available for the all-deciding game in North London. On the side of Tottenham, the injured Hugo Lloris (knee), Rodrigo Bentancur (knee), Yves Bissouma (ankle) and Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring) are missing. In addition, Eric Dier has been suspended.
