Julen Lopetegui seems to be the main candidate to become the new coach of AC Milan, it is reported Corriere dello Sport. There have recently been two meetings between the Spaniard and the Italian top club, but there has been no concrete proposal yet.

At the beginning of February, the first rumors came from Spain about Milan's interest in Lopetegui. However, now it appears that there is more going on than a simple flirtation.

Milan and Lopetegui would have met not once, but twice. Both parties seem to be slowly getting closer, although the bosses of the Rossoneri no contract proposal has been made yet.

If Milan decide to let Stefano Pioli go after this season, it seems likely that Lopetegui will be at the helm.

After stints with the Spanish national team and Real Madrid, Lopetegui signed a contract with Sevilla in the summer of 2019, the club with which he would later win the Europa League at the expense of Internazionale.

Most recently he was at the helm of Wolverhampton Wanderers. Despite good performances, Lopetegui suddenly decided to quit last August after a disagreement with the club management the Wolves.

Milan has the rewarding task of competing for trophies again next season. With a deficit of fourteen points, the national title this season has to be left to city rival Internazionale. Milan is still active in the Europa League.
