RKC Waalwijk is going to hit a gigantic financial hit, as we know the Gelderlander and Football International† Melle Meulensteen will definitely leave for Vitesse, which will transfer approximately one million euros for the 22-year-old captain of RKC. Furthermore, Ahmed Touba is about to make a top transfer to Istanbul Basaksehir. The transfer of the 24-year-old center defender involves an amount of two million euros.

RKC has not raised such an amount since 2006. Then Ryan Donk was sold to AZ for three million euros. The double deal of now is a loss for RKC on a sporting level, because trainer Joseph Oosting loses both center defenders in one fell swoop. Meulensteen’s departure does not come out of the blue. The mandekker was not allowed to go to Willem II in January, but received a verbal promise that he would be allowed to make a transfer in the summer. Meulensteen fought well with RKC to enforcement in the Eredivisie and leaves after four and a half years with 129 official matches for the club to his name.

By attracting Meulensteen, Vitesse sends a signal to the supporters that the financial resources are available to pay a transfer fee. The Arnhemmers were released this week from Russian owner Valeriy Oyf, who canceled a debt of 155 million euros. After the departure of Eli Dasa, Riechedly Bazoer, Danilho Doekhi and Jacob Rasmussen, Vitesse urgently needs new defenders. Meulensteen is the second Arnhem addition in that line after right back Carlens Arcus (free transfer from AJ Auxerre).

Where the transfer of Meulensteen is already certain, that of Touba is currently being completed. The rearguard player was taken over from Club Brugge two years ago and was in the spotlight at many clubs in particular last season. Touba could have signed with a Champions League participant, but will start with Basaksehir in the preliminary round of the Conference League.
